In 1981, under new ownership Jack Kent Cooke signed the offensive coordinator from the San Diego Chargers, Joe Gibbs. Gibbs led the Washington Redskins to four Super Bowls and won three of them. The Redskins line was nicknamed the "Hogs", because they would "root around in the mudd" on the field. Among the hogs where Jim Lachey, Mark May, George Starke, Joe Jacoby, Russ Grimm, Jeff Bostic, and Raleigh McKenzie.
