The St. Louis Cardinals won their first National League Pennant in 1926, the St. Louis Cardinals then defeated the New York Yankees in seven games to win their first World Series title. In 1926, the New York Yankees avenged their lost the following season by sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series in four-games. From 1930 to 1931, the St. Louis Cardinals won back to back National League Penannts, the St. Louis Cardinals lost the 1930 World Series but won the 1931 World Series. The St. Louis Cardinals would win another National League Penannt till 1934 and would capture another World Series title over the Detroit Tigers.

The St. Louis Cardinals acquired Stan "The Man" Musical in 1941, who won three National League MVP Awards with the St. Louis Cardinals in a 22 year career. The St. Louis Cardinals won three National League Pennants from 1942 to 1944. The St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series in 1942 verses the New York Yankees, but lost the following year to the New York Yankees. In 1946, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Boston Red Sox in the World Series to capture their sixth World Series title, and ninth National League Pennant.

In 1964, the St. Louis Cardinals traded Ernie Broglio and two other players for Lou Brock. The St. Louis Cardinals behind the powerful arm of Bob Gibson and Lou Brock won the 1964 World Series. In 1967, the St. Louis Cardinals would once again reach the World Series and defeat the Boston Red Sox. The St. Louis Cardinals reached the World Series the following season but would lose against the Detroit Tigers in seven games despite a record setting performace by pitcher Bob Gibson. In 1982, the St. Louis Cardinals would once again thrive because of a trade for Ozzie Smith. The St. Louis Cardinals went on to win the World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. In 1985 the St. Louis Cardinals, met the Kansas City Royals in the "I 70 Series", in the World Series, and would lose in seven games. In 1987, the St. Louis Cardinals would reach the World Series again, but would lose against the Minnesota Twins. The St. Louis Cardinals would not endure success for another decade. In 1996, the St. Louis Cardinals hired Tony La Russa, the team went as far as the National League Championship Series but lost to the Atlanta Braves. In 1998, the St. Louis Cardinals had a first baseman by the name of Mark Mcguire who would break the single season home run record of hitting 70 home runs. Beginning in 2000 all the way to 2006, the St. Louis Cardinals won the National League Central division title, behing power slugger Albert Pujols. The only year was in 2003, when they missed the playoffs. The St. Louis Cardinals reached the World Series in 2004, but were swept by the Boston Red Sox. In 2006, the St. Louis Cardinals moved to Busch Stadium and fought to win in the playoffs against the San Diego Padres, and the New York Mets. In the World Series, the St. Louis Cardinals faced the Detroit Tigers, who they defeated in five games to win the team's tenth World Series title.
