Rush is a Canadian Hard Rock band which formed in August 1968, in Toronto, Ontarion, in the Willowdale area. The original members of Rush are Alex Lifeson guitarist, John Rutsey drummer who was replace by Neil Peart, and Jeff Jones front man, who was replaced by Geddy Lee before their second performance. From 1968-1974, the band Rush went through some tuff times with the bands. Rush first released their self entitled album in 1974, and has been known for eclectic lyrical motifs, complex compositions, and a libertarian philosophy. Rush has gone through a lot of music phases, which have included heavy metal, hard rock, progressive rock, and modern rock. Rush has won a lot of awards, like a lot of Juno Awards, and Rush was also inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994. Rush is one of the most successful bands of all-time, with 14 platinum records (3 multi-platinum), 24 gold records, and Rush has sold 25 million records in the U.S., and 40 million records World-Wide. Rush’s current album is Snakes & Arrows.
Rush’s first album “Fly by Night”, is the band first album, which released in 1975. After that album Rush released, “Caress of Steel”, a five track hard rock album. Rush then released their album, “2112”, and Rush received their first platinum album in Canada. In 1977, Rush went to the United Kingdom, and recorded, “A Farewell to Kings”, and in 1978 Rush recruited the, “Hemispheres” in Wales. From 1977-1981, Rush is considered to be in a progressive rock era. The album Permanent Waves, in 1980, shifted Rush’s music style due to the reggae and new wave trends, but still kept the band’s aura of hard rock. In 1981, Rush gained the most popularity to date, with the track, “Tom Sawyer”. From 1982-1989, Rush went through the synthesizer phase, which includes the song, “New World Man”. From 1989-1997, Rush recorded Presto, Roll the Bones, Counterparts, and Test for Echo.
After the 1997 season, Rush wrapped up the Test for Echo Tour, and the band went away for five-years after personal tragedies to band members. In 1998, Rush returned and recorded a triple CD live, entitled Different Stages. In 2007, Rush recorded Snakes & Arrows, and announced that they would go on tour again.
