In 1955 the National won their first NBA Championship. It was not till 1963, that the Philadelphia 76ers moved to Philadelphia. The 1966-1967 team is legendary because the team went on to record a league history best at the time of most wins, and a 68-13 record. The team was led by Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Lucious Jackson, Wali Jones, Chet Walker, and Hal Greer, who led the Philadelphia 76ers over a win against the Boston Celtics, to capture the NBA Championship for the second time. The 76ers would trade Wilt Chamberlain to the Los Angeles Lakers, a trade that left Philadelphia 76ers wounded and the team would struggle till the 1976-77 season when they aquired Julius Irving from the New York. Nets. With Julius Irving the 76ers returned to winning games again, but it was not till acquiring Moses Malone in 1982-83 season that the 76ers were able to capture their third NBA Championship, with a sweep over the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1983 came the arrival of Sir Charles Barkley, who was picked fifth in the 1984 draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. In 2000, the Philadelphia 76ers had the first pick in the draft and they selected Allen Iverson (The Answer). Allen Iverson would lead the Philadelphia 76ers to the NBA Finals in the 2000-2001 season, but would fall short losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in game five. In 2006, the 76ers traded away key players, and are now in a rebuilding stage.
