Motley Crue is an American rock heavy metal band based out of Los Angeles, California in 1981. The band’s original member include drummer Tommy Lee, and bass guitarist Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars guitarist, and singer Vince Neil. The band Motley Crue has sold over 72 million records, including 25 million in the U.S. alone. Motley Crue’s is set to release their ninth album Saints of Los Angeles in June 2008. Motley Crue’s first manager was Alan Coffman. Motley Crue first released the single “Sitck to Your Guns/Toast of the Town”, and in 1981, Motley Crue released the album Too Fast for Love, which sold 20,000 copies. In 1982, Motley Crue signed with Elektra Records. Motley Crue, during their “Cruessing Through Canada Tour 82”, the band became known for their off the field accolades, and controversies. From 1984-1991, Motley Crue endured a lot of fame. Motley Crue, released several best-selling albums which included: Shout at the Devil, Theatre of Pain, and Girl, Girls, Girls. During this time Vince Neil was involved in a DUI and vehicular manslaughter, and served thirty days in jail. In 1987, Sixx almost died due to a near-fatal heroin overdose, but one medic did not give up, even though he was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital. In 1989, Motley Crue gained the most popularity and released their fifth album, Dr Feelgood, which became the band’s only number one song. In 1991, Motley Crue released their sixth album, “Decade of Decadence”, which made number two on the Billboard charts.

From 1992-2003, Motley Crue struggled to meet fan expectations. There was controversy whether Vince Niel was either fired or quit in 1992. In 1997, Motley Crue reunited, when Vince Neil met with the other members, and the band produced the album, Generation Swine. In 1999, Tommy Lee left Motley Crue to pursue a solo career due to not getting along with Vince Neil. In 2004, Sixx announced that Vince Neil would come back and that the four original members would produce a new album entitled, “Red, White & Crue in 2005. In 2006, Motley Crue toured with Aerosmith in the Route of All Evil Tour. In 2008, Motley Crue set the Crue Fest, which had acts like, Sixx: A.M., Buckcherry, Trapt, and Papa Roach.
