The Detroit Tigers would not win the World Series till 1945.

In 1968 Detroit Tigers were back in business capturing first place on May 10 and not letting go until clinching the American League Pennant. That year the Detroit Tigers faced off against the St. Louis Cardinals, and defeated them in seven games with a score of 4-1. The Detroit Tigers would not endure success till 1972, when they captured their first American League East title. In 1984, led by manager George "Sparky" Anderson, who led the team to 104 wins, propelled the team to the World Series versus the San Diego Padres. The Detroit Tigers won their fourth World Series.
