Dave Matthews Band is an American rock band, that originated in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1991, who is led by singer-songwriter Dave Matthews. Other members of Dave Matthews band include: Carter Beauford drummer, Boyd Tinsley violinist, Stefan Lessard bassist, and LeRoi Moore as the saxophonist. The First live performance for Dave Matthews Band occured on 1991 at the Earth Day Festival.

From 1994-1996, Dave Matthews Band endured a lot of success. In 1994, DMB released their first LP, Under the Table and Dreaming, and Crash albums brought Dave Mattthews Band national recognition, and received a nomination Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group for the song So Much to Say, and from 96-97 received four more nominations.

In 1997, Dave Matthews Band released their first live album, Live at Red Rocks 8.15.95. In 1998, Dave Matthews Band released their third album, Before These Crowded Streets in 1998, the album relied on more gospel hits and less upbeat singles. In 1999, Dave Matthews Band was part of Woodstock 99 and released their third live album, Listener Supported. Dave Matthews band released three singles, American Baby, Everybody Wake Up, and Dreamgirl. Dave Matthews Band released a video for Dream Girl, which included Julia Roberts. In March of that year Dave Matthews Band embarked over seas and landed in Austraila, and played to amazing crowds, and were a big hit.

In 2006, Dave Matthews Band did a brief appearance in the UK. Dave Matthews Band is one of the more environmentally conscious band out there and on April 25, 2006, they announced a $1.5 million challenge grant to rebuild New Orleans Habitat Musicians' Village. In August of that year Dave Matthews Band released a best of Dave Matthews Band album, entitled The Best of What's Around Vol.1. Dave Matthews Band has released a total of seven total albums, two independent albums, ten live albums, and one Compilation album. Dave Matthews has been nominated for Grammy Awards since 1996-2003, except for 2001, and won in 1997.
