Bon Jovi is a hard rock band that originated in Sayreville, New Jersey. Jon Bon Jovi first started playing the piano and guitar at age thirteen. At age sixteen he met David Bryan, and formed the band the Atlantic City Expressway. At an early age Bon Jovi played in the band John Bongiovi and the Wild Ones. In 1983, Bon Jovi caught a break when they visited the radio station called WAPP 103.5 "The Apple" in Lake Success, New York. The local D.J. suggested that the song "Runaway" be included in the rotation. After the song was played, it begin to get airplay in New York metro area, than in other major markets. After that people wanted to sign Bon Jovi, but he needed band mates, but the current lineup came to be till 1983. Before Richie Sambora joined Bon Jovi he toured with Joe Cocker and the Mercy group, he also played with the band Message. The Drummer Tico Torres had recorded and played for the Phantom's Opera, Chuck Berry, The Marvellettes, and had worked with Frankie and the Knockouts. David Bryan was his friend and while in college realized to follow his dream of being a musican and was accepted to Julliard School. Bon Jovi was signed to Mercury Records in the early 80's. The first album Bon Jovi was released on January 21, 1984, entitled Bon Jovi. The Album went gold in the U.S. and Bon Jovi opened for acts like Scorpions, Kiss, and ZZ Top. In 1985, Bon Jovi released their second album 7800 degrees Fahrenheit, the album was not supported very well. In late 1986, Bon Jovi released their third album, and with the help of songwriter Desmond Child, the album was a success. The album has sold to date over 26 million copies, and made Bon Jovi Superstars. The album includes hits like "Slippery When Wet", "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Livin On A Prayer", and "Wanted Dead or Alive". In 1988 Bon Jovi released another album, New Jersey. The album includes hit songs like, "Lay Your Hands on Me", "I'll Be There for You", "Bad Medicine", "Born to Be My Baby", and "Living in Sin". The album has sold over 18 million copies for Bon Jovi. During the early 90's the members explored doing things on their own. Jon Bon Jovi recorded a solo album, a soundtrack to the movie "Young Guns II, called Blaze of Glory. Jon's Blaze of Glory was awarded a Golden Globe, and he earned an Academy Award nomination for best song. In 1991, Richie Sambora, with the help of his other band mates released a solo album entitled Stranger in this Town. David Bryan recorded a soundtrack for the movie The Netherland.
