In 1967-1969, the Atlanta Falcons played in the Western Conference, also known as the coastal division. The 80's would be a ruff time for the Atlanta Falcons as they would not reach the playoffs until 1991, only to lose to the Washington Redskins. In 1998, the best season for the Atlanta Falcons arrived and with it the "Dirty Bird", the team compiled a 14-2 record and went on to capture their first NFC Championship title, and reached their first Super Bowl ever, only to lose to the Denver Broncos 34-19.
